چکیده
The document is part of an R package that allows reproducible research as discussed in Gentleman (2005) and Gentleman and Temple Lang (2007). With this package, called hbim, a researcher can redo all the calculations done to produce the figures in the main paper. Further one can extract the R computer code used to create those Figures and modify it as desired. Here is an outline of this document. The main part of the document gives the overall details of the calculations in mathematical notation, while Appendix A gives the details of the computer programs used in R package. In Section 2 we define the 95% range and 95% fold-range. This is a simple function of the standard deviation of the log of the transformed antibody responses, denoted σ. In Section 3 we give the algorithm for estimating σ (the standard deviation of the log transformed responses) from the 95% confidence interval of the mean. In Section 4 we show how we calculate the relative risk and the expected relative risk. In Section 5 we show how we calculate the percent protected from this model. Appendix A gives details of how the calculations were done, and information on how to redo the calculations in the R programming language using the hbim package. R is an open source freeware statstical

Human Immunity and the Design of Multi-Component, Single Target Vaccines
BACKGROUND Inclusion of multiple immunogens to target a single organism is a strategy being pursued for many experimental vaccines, especially where it is difficult to generate a strongly protective response from a single immunogen. Although there are many human vaccines that contain multiple defined immunogens, in almost every case each component targets a different pathogen. As a consequence,...
متن کاملMathematical Modeling of Single and Multi-Component Adsorption Fixed Beds to Rigorously Predict the Mass Transfer Zone and Breakthrough Curves
The aim of the present work is to prepare an adsorption package to simulate adsorption / desorption operation for both single and multi-component systems in an isothermal condition by different mechanisms such as; local adsorption theory and mass transfer resistance (rigorous and approximated methods). Different mass transfer resistance mechanisms of pore, solid and bidispersed diffusion, t...
متن کاملEstablishment and the importance of chicken pluripotent stem cells and their role in vaccine production: review article
Chick embryos are a great historical research model in basic and applied sciences. Along with other animal models, avian and specifically chicken embryo has been attended, as well. Avian fertilized eggs as a natural bioreactor are an efficient tool for producing recombinant proteins and vaccines manufacturing. Due to the limitations of birds' eggs for viral replication, avian stem cells culture...
متن کاملA Mathematical Model for Cell Formation in CMS Using Sequence Data
Cell formation problem in Cellular Manufacturing System (CMS) design has derived the attention of researchers for more than three decades. However, use of sequence data for cell formation has been the least investigated area. Sequence data provides valuable information about the flow patterns of various jobs in a manufacturing system. This paper presents a new mathematical model to solve a cell...
متن کاملEngraftment of plasma membrane vesicles into liposomes: A new method for designing of liposome-based vaccines
Objective(s):One of the major challenges in the field of vaccine design is choosing immunogenic antigens which can induce a proper immune response against complex targets like malignant cells or recondite diseases caused by protozoan parasites such as leishmaniasis. The aim of this study was to find a way to construct artificial liposome-based cells containing fragments of target’s cell membran...
